Happy Birthday Opperation Iraqi Freedom!!

Four sick years today bros, woooo! Now lets just stay the course and make sure those brown people are free as fuck by the end of this shit.

Seriously folks, aside from being the catalyst for some gnarly Kid Presentable songs, what has the Iraq War done for us lately? Or for that matter, ever? As loyal readers know I don't really play the serious card too often and on this blog (not to mention the fact that people far more articulate than I are chomping at the bit to tell you what an illegal, mismanaged, unwinable, depressing, never ending, bloodsucking crock of bullshit the war is) but I didn't want this day to go unrecorded on my little section of the universe.

The war used to make me righteously angry and now it just makes me sad. I'd normally attribute that to the natural mellowing any post-pubescent punk kid experiences but I think there is more there. The Bush administration has consistently proven they are unwilling to make a good decision at any point in this whole fucked up enterprise and that's the kind of shit that'll get to you after a while. We'll be lucky if we get out of this with a civil war going in Iraq and some American boys still intact. That doesn't make me wanna smash the state, it just makes me want a hug.

I dunno how koolz it is to do two posts about the same band in such close proximity but fuggit, this No Age EP convinced me to quit my shitty job today. Maybe it can convince you to quit your shitty job or something equally liberating. Here are the primest trackages.

They are playing at least one of the insanely good Todd P shows coming up in the next two months, I think it's with Black Dice. Of course I won't be anywhere near Brooklyn, NY when that goes down but it's nice to dream. I will be back in Jers from March 23rdish to April 1st though, so be sure get at me.

Jamnesty gets some shine on the motherfucking FADER, complete with a TIGHT Jesse Chan photo. I did a serious double take when I saw this shit.

Some Good YouTubes

Paperrad (Do not go here and not watch Super Mario REAL FRUIT SNACKS on the favorites page. They're also down with this clip, a longtime favorite among the homies.)

We should just leave the super important task of meticulously arranging media objects around oneself to the professionals.

In other news, since I go to the best kollege in the kountry, I will be getting 16 credits next quarter for reading some Hegel and making an album with my bro Tony. More details to come but rest assured it's gonna be a banger. Artworkz and all that.

The Music They Play While I'm on Hold With Apple Tech Support

Definitely would find this in the "world" section on Amazon, but with a nice kinda laid back, rock and roll kick, you know? The guy's voice is a little less than perfect but it works for the whole cool rebellious brand he's going for. Guitar solo really puts the whole thing over the top, very Edge (from U2, duh). I could really see myself popping this in the Prius and cruising up to Humboldt for the weekend (I know a guy). The system isn't so great in there but it's not like I'm really as wild and crazy as I used to be. A guy like me doesn't need big speakers in his car to feel comfortable with himself, you know?

Gnarly Shit II: The Bloodening

eYe roolz.
The Tengo in Prospect Park Last Summer

Easily one of the best musical performances I've ever seen. This clip doesn't really do it so much justice but it was amazing shit to be sure.
